여기요 [ yeogiyo ]

여기 means ‘here’ and 요 is an end particle to be polite. However, 여기요 is more used in almost the same way as ‘excuse me’, to get attention.

ex)

여기요! < in a restaurant >  (Excuse me, we are ready to order. / Can you come here, please!)

여기요. < on the street >  (Excuse me. / I would like to ask you something.)

저기요 (저기 [ jeogi ] means ‘there’) is used like 여기요, but 여기요 is more common.
