The 2026 Busan Biennale opens today, bringing works by 46 artists and collectives from 22 countries to three venues across the city.
Running through November 1, this year’s biennale is titled Dissident Chorus and explores ideas of communication, resistance and collective action through sound and the body.
The exhibition is jointly directed by Evelyn Simons and Amal Khalaf, who were selected through an international competition. Works span installation, sound, performance, video and sculpture, with participating artists including Joshua Serafin, Julien Creuzet and Éric Baudelaire.
Korean participants include Kang Seokyeong, Dew Kim, Ryu Sungsil and Lim Minouk, along with several Busan-based artists.
Exhibitions will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan, Space Oneji and the former Busan Nam High School.
Performances, workshops and talks will also take place throughout the 65-day event.
The biennale runs Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission to the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan exhibition is 16,000 won for adults, 8,000 won for teenagers and military personnel, and 5,000 won for children.
The other two venues are free.
A free shuttle bus will connect all three exhibition sites.
