As the holiday season is getting into full swing, many travelers are looking forward to their vacation, but dreading getting there.
Here’s five tips for those in Korea to help ease the pain of getting to your destination.
Get to the airport early
It goes without saying that missing your flight because you didn’t plan enough time to get to the airport is a rookie traveler mistake. Plan ahead, and avoid if you can taking taxis to the airport during rush-hours. The Busan Light Rail Train can get you there fast from whatever part of the city you are in.
Get the Auto Immigration Clearance Visa
If you’re lucky enough to have the right visa, the Korean Auto Immigration Clearance Visa will eliminate any need for you to queue to get your passport stamped. You can apply for it at the airport and the process takes about five minutes. Keep in mind it won’t work until your next trip abroad however.
Book early
Koreans have become avid travelers, especially during holiday seasons when its one of the only chances they get to travel because of their work schedules. Prices of tickets also reflect that — they usually double during peak travel times. Try to book as early as you can to avoid disappointment of not getting a ticket.
Leave the car at home
The airport, train station and ferry terminal’s parking lots are almost always full and you could be stuck for hours sitting and waiting for an open space. Public transportation will get you there much faster.
Prepare for anything
As any traveler knows, you should almost never expect a smooth sailing start to your trip. Make sure you have all your travel documents in order and be prepared for any delays. Always give yourself enough time between connecting flights so you don’t get stuck in another city with no local currency and no place to go.
Happy traveling!
