Actor Im Si-wan has been commissioned as an ambassador for the World Table Tennis Championships.
The Organizing Committee has begun to publicize the event in earnest ahead of the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships which is one year away, and the appointment of this ambassador is the first step.
Actor Im Si-wan is an idol-turned-star actor born in Busan who grew up attending middle school, high school, and university in Busan.
He has fans in Asia, such as China and Japan, and is expected to play a big role in improving the image of table tennis in Busan as well as internationally promoting the 2024 World Table Tennis Championships.
“I wasn’t good at table tennis when I was in school, but I remember joining the table tennis club because I liked it. As this is the time of year, I will do my best to ensure that the 2024 World Table Tennis Championships in Busan can be held successfully with a lot of interest,” Im said.
The 2024 World Table Tennis Championships in Busan is the most prestigious international table tennis competition with 16 spots guaranteed for the Paris Olympics held in the same year.
About 2,000 players and officials from 40 countries around the world will participate and compete fiercely for the men’s and women’s team trophies.
