Art Benefit and Memorial For Antony Jackson

As many of you know, this past October, Antony Jackson, a vital and giving member of the Busan Expat Community for 20 years, passed away suddenly, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and friendship as well as a loving wife, Yeo Ju, and son, Tae Bin. He had particularly close ties to the KSU and Gwangan areas as a frequent organizer, participant, and attendee of so many of the events that have been held over the years–his Halloween costumes were legendary, his trivia teams won more often than they lost, and he had a willing ear and sage (but blunt) advice for everyone he met. Our community is going to miss his presence tremendously. Antony’s family and close friends have helped put together a special Art Benefit and Memorial for him to be held at HQ on Sunday, December 23rd.

Antony passed away at a relatively young age, and his plans of working to support his family and to put his son through university are gone. Tae Bin is an aspiring graphic artist who plans to develop his craft at Sheridan College, Canada. He will work and apply for scholarships, but we would like to help him and his mother out this holiday season through this fundraiser in memory of Antony.

Antony was an incredible artist with a large portfolio of work, and we will have a selection of prints of his sketch work available in return for a donation. A donation of 20,000 won will get you one print, and a donation of 50,000 or more will get you three prints. In addition, HQ will be donating 10% of our total sales for the day. All of these donations will be placed in a Canadian Savings Bond until Tae Bin can attend university.

We will also have a curated group of speakers and musicians to talk about Antony’s life and what he meant to them. This stage of the evening will start at 7:00, and will be organized as follows:

Kenneth May – Speaker
Robert Coates – Guitar
Bradley McMaster – Speaker
Jesse Cull – Speaker
Denis Parnell – Speaker
Gino Brann – Song
Anthony Velasquez – Story
Jeff Lebow – Speaker
Day Kate – Speaker
Mike Ventola – Song

If you did not know Antony, you are still welcome to come and celebrate and remember.
