BIFF Announces Performance Lineup for the Opening Ceremony

Before the screening of the opening film at the 24th Busan International Film Festival, a stellar performance by an ensemble of various voices will create harmony at the opening ceremony held on 19:00, October 3rd.

This year’s opening ceremony features WAN Yihwa, a Karen refugee girl from Myanmar, Brook Kim, a violinist from the Soyang Rainbow Orchestra of Soyang Orphanage, ‘Hello? Orchestra’ from the Ansan Cultural Foundation, Busan Metropolitan Junior Chorus, and Gimhae Cultural Foundation’s Globuddy Choir. The opening performance, where a variety of colorful guests participate, will be bringing harmony and unity to people through music. This is in line with the Busan International Film Festival’s wish to leap forward into a united one Asia, transcending ethnic, national, and religious barriers that overcome differences related to gender and disabilities.

For the opening performance, 246 performers, including 70 from Ansan Cultural Foundation ‘Hello?! Orchestra’, 50 from Busan Metropolitan Junior Chorus, 126 from Globuddy Choir, Gimhae Cultural Foundation will sing together ‘I wish I had only one home’ written by WAN Yihwa. This is expected to be a great show filled with harmonious melodies and a chorus spreading throughout every corner of the Busan Cinema Center, impressing audiences. In addition, opening ceremony hosts, actor Jung Woo-sung and Lee Hanee, will narrate the song sung by the special ensemble.
