BIFF Sees Decrease in Attendance this Year

The Busan International Film Festival concluded successfully Saturday, finishing its 24th edition with a slight decrease in attendance from 2018.

This year’s BIFF opened on October 3rd with 299 films from 85 countries, down 25 films from 2018.

This year’s festival saw an attendance of 189,116 — a slight 3.1% decrease from 195,081 theatergoers last year and still very shy of the record 227,377 visitors in 2015.

The festival included 117 World Premieres and 27 International Premieres.

Rom, a Vietnamese film by Tran Thanh Huy and Haifa Street, by Iraqi Mohanad Hayal shared the top prize for the New Currents Award.
