The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), set for September 17 to 26 at the Busan Cinema Center and venues across the city, has announced the schedule for its key programs.
This year’s lineup includes Carte Blanche, Special Talks, Actors’ House, Talk-to-Talk, Master Classes, and Cine Classes, offering audiences deeper ways to connect with filmmakers and cinema.
The newly introduced Carte Blanche: The Icons’ Film Selection invites leading cultural figures such as Bong Joon-ho, Gang Dong-won, Sohn Suk-hee, Eun Huigyeong, and Maggie Kang to present personally meaningful films, followed by conversations with the audience.
Special Talks will expand the traditional post-screening format with in-depth discussions featuring filmmakers like Michael Mann, Sylvia Chang, Chung Jiyoung, and Lee Chang-dong. Meanwhile, Actors’ House will highlight Lee Byung Hun, Son Yejin, Kim Youjung, and Ninomiya Kazunari as they reflect on their craft and careers.
Other programs include Talk-to-Talk, with candid discussions led by rising scene stealers and emerging female directors; Master Class, featuring international auteurs such as Marco Bellocchio, Sergei Loznitsa, Jafar Panahi, Juliette Binoche, and Michael Mann; and Cine Class, which examines cinema’s cultural role with speakers including Kogonada, Paul W.S.
