Busan City Landmarks to Turn Purple For BTS Fan Meetings Next Weekend

BTS fever is picking up in Busan before next weekends fan meetings at Busan Asiad Auxiliary Stadium.

Local landmarks around the city of Busan will turn purple next weekend to commemorate the two-day fan meeting of BTS on the 15th and 16th.

Gwangan Bridge, Namhangdaegyo Bridge, Busan Tower, Busan Cinema Center, and the broadcast transmission tower at Hwangnyeongsan mountain and other locations will light up purple from sunset to midnight.

BTS’s world-famous fan club “ARMY” is also pushing for a big promotion in Busan by buying electric signboards at Busan Station, advertising on buses and posters at the underground passage wall around Sajik Station near the Asiad Auxiliary Stadium where fan meeting events are held.

BTS Means a Big Win for Local Businesses

The retail and hotel industries are also highly anticipating BTS’s visit. A high-end hotel in Haeundae-gu is expected to have a direct and indirect publicity effect as it is known that BTS and some overseas fans will stay in the hotel.

“We can not confirm the availability of BTS,” said a hotel official. “Most fans are going to use business-class hotels, so there is not a noticeable increase in the rate on the day of the event.”

Lotte Department Store in Centum City store will open ‘VT Cosmetics’ pop-up store which sells various products including ‘BTS fragrance’ from 13th to 20th.

According to a report released by the Hyundai Research Institute last year, the economic effect of BTS was 4.142 trillion won, 26 times the average sales of the mid-sized companies and the total economic value reached about 5.6 trillion won.

Asiad Stadium Won’t be Opened to Fans

The Busan Metropolitan Government also announced that the Busan Asiad Main Stadium will not be open to fans wanting to watch a BTS concert on their large screens next week.

The city government had considered allowing fans to watch the concert on the screen from the stands at the auxiliary stadium of Busan Asiad Stadium for those fans who could not watch the BTS concert.

After discussions with an agency in charge of planning the show, the government said it decided not to open the main stadium considering the fairness with those who paid to watch the concert, along with other technical problems.

Officials added; however, that a part of the stands in the main stadium will be open to fans waiting to be admitted to the show.

The fan meetings for BTS 5th Muster “Magic Shop” are being held June 15th and 16th at 7 p.m.
