The city of Busan City held a final interagency preparation meeting ahead of the upcoming “LIV Golf Korea 2026” tournament, which is scheduled to begin on May 28.
The meeting, chaired by acting Mayor Kim Kyung-duk at Busan City Hall, focused on final operational checks as the city prepares to welcome approximately 60,000 spectators and 57 world-class golfers for the international tournament.
According to the city, officials reviewed preparations across seven major areas, including transportation, safety, environmental maintenance, healthcare, tourism and promotion, immigration, and golf course operations.
Organizers said the large-scale event will require extensive coordination between local governments, police, fire authorities, medical institutions, and tournament operators to minimize disruptions and ensure public safety.
Tournament operator IMG Media Korea announced plans to deploy up to 1,062 staff members per day during the event, including 488 safety personnel and 322 security staff.
Detailed operational plans covering player support, crowd management, parking, transportation, and medical response systems were also reviewed during the meeting.
Busan City said it has established a dedicated tournament support headquarters to oversee real-time traffic management and coordinate safety responses throughout the competition period.
Officials added that transportation systems will be closely monitored to reduce congestion around the venue and improve visitor movement, while emergency response coordination between police, fire departments, and medical teams will be strengthened to handle large crowds safely.
Beyond the tournament itself, Busan plans to use the event as an opportunity to promote the city internationally through tourism, food, marine attractions, and cultural content aimed at visiting domestic and overseas spectators.
