Busan International Food Expo 2019, which is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and supervised by the Korea Foodservice Industry Association (Busan branch), will be held from October 10 through 12 at BEXCO’s Exhibition Center 1 Hall 3.
In its 16th run this year, the expo will feature regular and themed exhibitions in addition to a cooking contest, business information session, academic seminar, and other special programs, all under the theme “Feast of Tastes Opening Up the Future.” The regular exhibitions will include a special pavilion on foods native to Busan, a food company pavilion, local food pavilion, dessert pavilion, tool and ingredient pavilion, and PR pavilion for relevant institutions.
The themed exhibitions will include a special 2019 ASEAN-ROK pavilion, Food Silk Road special pavilion, and a pavilion on traditional northern European foods. The auxiliary event area inside the expo venue will stage diverse and highly anticipated events and programs for the general public, including the “Live Cookbang Show with Hot Stars,” “Traditional ASEAN Food Cooking Class,” cooking contest, and global cultural performances.
This year’s expo will also feature a cooking contest, native dish exhibition hall, marketing booth for Maghrebi dish couscous, and noodle exhibition, among others.
A special food tasting hall featuring dishes from 10 ASEAN countries will also be present, along with trying on traditional clothing in commemoration of the Korea-ASEAN special summit to be held in Busan next month.
Busan’s specialty food including fish cakes, laver and pancakes can be sampled or purchased at BEXCO.
There will be other things to see, including live cooking shows, noodle production performance, magic shows, Russian cooking shows, and traditional ASEAN performances.
The admission fee is KRW 3,000, with free admission available for those who register in advance on the official website. Further information on the expo is available on the official website or via the secretariat.
