NC Regains Top Spot in KBO

BUSAN, South Korea --  The NC Dinos hit six homeruns against the Nexen Heroes, breaking a team record for homeruns in a single game. The team also broke a record for hits in a game, with 21, and runs in a game, with 24. NC went on to win the game 24 to 5 in Seoul's Mokdong Stadium. 

With this win, NC has regained the top spot in the league after 20 days out of first. This win marks their second consecutive victory over Nexen giving the team a 19-12 record. 

The game was eventually called in the sixth inning due to heavy rain. 

In other baseball news, the Lotte Giants came from behind for a 10-6 win against the Doosan Bears in yesterday's game at Sajik Stadium, marking their second straight victory.

Average KBO Salary Tops 100 Million Won

BUSAN, South Korea -- The average annual salary of South Korean professional baseball players has surpassed the 100 million won mark in 2014 for the first time in history, the baseball governing body said Wednesday. 

According to the report released by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), a total of 477 South Korean players, excluding rookies and foreign players, will receive a record high of 106.4 million won (US$99,198) on average for the 2014 season, up 11.8 percent from the previous record of 95.17 million won last year. 

It is the first time for the average salary of players to exceed the mark in the pro league, which kicked off in 1982.

Lotte Giants to Host 26th Annual Lotte-Cup Baseball Competition

BUSAN, South Korea -- Pro-baseball team Lotte Giants will host the 26th Annual Lotte-Cup Baseball Competition on March 8th in Busan Gudeok Baseball Park. 

32 baseball teams based in Busan and Ulsan, including 6 elementary school teams, 16 little baseball team and 10 middle school teams, will participate. 

The winner from each league will receive 3 million won in baseball products and the 2nd place team from each league will receive 2 million won in baseball products.
