Chinatown Festival Runs this Friday through Sunday

The 16th Busan Chinatown Culture Festival in Choryang-dong begins from the 18th to the 20th for three days.

Various events, including a street parade where residents can directly participate along with a special performance by a Chinese performing group, will be held during the festival that will be held in Choryang-dong’s Chinatown.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Busan Station square starting with a street parade from the Statue of Admiral Jeong Bal to Busan Station square on Oct. 18 around 3:30 p.m.

Visitors can walk through a tunnel with about 5,000 lit Chinese red lanterns, made in Chinatown, and symbolize good fortune.

Visitors can also enjoy various cultural performances, observe Korean and Chinese traditions and try local foods around Busan Station square and Chinatown during the festival.

Diverse cultural experiences like a dragon parade, Beijing opera, a Chinese Shamanistic theater, acrobat performances, Chinese clothing and more are also scheduled.
