Among several fancy, famous Korean restaurants in Busan, Daon is relatively new and has been one of the restaurants designated as a traditional Korean restaurant by Busan Metropolitan City since 2011. Set on the eighth floor of Marina Center in Marine City, Daon has a great lunch special worth a try.
Their lunch special is available during lunch time only on weekdays is a great chance to enjoy a full course meal at a reasonable price. For two people, it is 19,000 won each and for three or more diners, it is only 17,000 won each. After a small bowl of Korean-style porridge, you will be served three courses (the main photo is the first) and then followed by a simple fruit dessert.
Their usual course meals range from 28,000 won to 110,000 won a person and the lunch special is a simplified version of their meals.
Meals should be ordered per person. If you want an additional dish, you can order from a la carte on menu including hoe, galbi-jjim, pan-fried seafood or an assorted fried dish from 35,000 won to 60,000 won.
Korean alcohol, including soju and beer, are available from 5,000 won to 50,000 won and whiskey and wine are from 40,000 won to 300,000 won.
The lunch special in the photos may not seem like a lot but it was actually so much that we couldn’t finish some dishes. To me, it was much better than a buffet; you do not have to move around to get your food and the variety of food is enough for even the pickiest eater, so you can just enjoy many kinds of Korean food and talk to the people you are with.
They prepare their food every morning, basically based on the reservations they have for the day. The food was all fresh, healthy and delicious without any uncomfortable disturbing taste.
Be prepared for a long lunch however. The average time for eating is between 1.5-2 hours so if you have a free afternoon to relax, it’s a great atmosphere with comfortable soft music to talk.
WiFi is available. Parking is available for three hours in a parking lot of the same building.
They have 11 dinning rooms and people often make reservations for group meetings or family parties.
Reservations are highly recommended and there are limited tables with leg room that you can sit like on a chair so you have to tell them when you make reservations. If the reservation is for five people or more, a deposit of 50,000 won is obligatory.
