Gyeongnam Art Museum will transform the lawn at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Complex into an outdoor cinema on September 19, screening a selection of acclaimed international art films as part of its special early autumn film project.
Titled βAnd Life Goes On,β the event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is presented in collaboration with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Artβs (MMCA) regional partnership program.
The free outdoor screening will feature eight short films by eight Korean and international artists whose works have been recognized at major festivals, including Cannes and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, as well as international biennales. The 102-minute program explores themes including family, conflict, war, disaster, resilience and the enduring nature of everyday life.
Featured artists include Chang Hsu-Chien (Taiwan), Kim Se-jin (Korea), Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Thailand), Kim So-young (Korea), Erkan Γzgen (TΓΌrkiye), Meriem Bennani and Orian Barki (Morocco/United States), and Jesper Just (Denmark).
Artists Kim Se-jin and Kim So-young will attend the event to introduce their works and participate in a discussion with the audience.
Held on the open lawn rather than inside a theater, the screening welcomes families and visitors with pets for a relaxed evening of outdoor cinema.
Papa Johns Korea is sponsoring the event and will provide 150 pizzas to visitors who register through a pre-event application.
The museum expects about 400 attendees, including local residents, artists, filmmakers and visitors. Additional information and event registration are available through the Gyeongnam Art Museum website.
