Gyeongnam Expands Healing Forests Across the Province

Gyeongnam is expanding its network of “healing forests,” offering residents more places to relax and take part in wellness programs surrounded by nature.

The province currently has 11 healing forests either operating or under development. Seven are fully open, including forests in Jinhae, Hapcheon, Hamyang, Geochang, Sancheong, Hadong and Geoje, while the Hwawangsan Healing Forest in Changnyeong is operating on a temporary basis.

Three additional sites are being developed at Wolasan in Jinju, Doraejae in Miryang and Mangunsan in Namhae.

The forests offer programs designed to support physical and mental well-being through activities such as walking forest trails and spending time in natural surroundings.

Programs can also be tailored according to participants’ ages and health needs.

Gyeongnam plans to expand these programs as the new sites open, giving residents greater access to forest-based recreation and wellness activities closer to home.

The province is also working to increase awareness of the facilities as part of a broader effort to expand public access to forest recreation and welfare services.
