Hard Rock Cafe Closing Korea Locations

According to Hard Rock Cafe, they will be closing both their locations in South Korea sometime in “early 2018”. The brand currently has one cafe in Seoul and another in the Haeundae Beach area of Busan which closed on February 18th.

In a statement to Branding in Asia, Hard Rock International said:

Hard Rock International and our current franchise partner, Berjaya HR Cafe Korea Ltd. will be ending our business relationship in South Korea.

South Korea remains an important country for Hard Rock International.

We are currently in discussions with new potential franchise partners who share our vision and strategy in developing a world-class restaurant brand in South Korea.

According to the Hard Rock website, the Seoul location was first established in 2014 and the Busan location in 2015. The company has cafes in 20 countries across the Asia-Pacific region.

The South Korean franchise parent company, Berjaya, is a Kuala Lumpur based conglomerate that additionally runs franchise ventures in other countries with global brands such as Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Kenny Rogers Roasters and Wendy’s

At the time of writing, the Hard Rock Cafes in Korea were still listed on the Berjaya corporate website.
