Since its inception in 1999, the Angel Tree initiative at the International School of Busan (ISB) has exemplified the school’s dedication to ‘service as action.’
Each winter, this project unites the ISB community to provide personalized gifts for the children at Park Ae Won, enhancing their holiday season with joy and inclusion. This endeavor is a cornerstone of ISB’s commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.
The initiative involves students, staff, and parents who engage in various fundraising activities to secure the necessary funds for the gifts.
Elementary school students create ‘hearts of kindness,’ which Grade 2 students hang on the Angel Tree located at the school’s reception. This tree not only collects the gifts but also stands as a symbol of the community’s spirit at the end-of-year assembly.
This year, the delivery of gifts on December 10th was met with exceptional warmth at Park Ae Won.
The children and staff’s heartfelt reception highlighted the deep connections and impact fostered by this annual tradition.
It was a pleasure to meet with the staff and director to hear more about the many fantastic projects that take place in the facility, as well as hear how this long-standing community partnership with ISB has positively impacted the lives of the children and staff.
The positive feedback from Park Ae Won reaffirmed the significant social impact of the Angel Tree initiative, emphasizing its role in promoting community engagement and inclusion.
