A special exhibition exploring the records and royal culture of the Joseon Dynasty has attracted more than 70,000 visitors to the Busan Museum since opening on July 7.
The exhibition, βRecords and Culture of Joseon: To Be Passed Down for Generations,β is jointly organized by the Busan Museum and National Palace Museum of Korea to commemorate the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting held in Busan this year.
It has become the second-most visited special exhibition in Busan Museum history, behind a 2024 exhibition that drew approximately 80,000 visitors.
The exhibition features 193 artifacts across 166 entries, including UNESCO Memory of the World items such as the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, Seungjeongwon Ilgi, royal protocols and Joseon Tongsinsa records.
One of the main attractions is the first-ever simultaneous display of copies of the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty preserved at the four major historical archives of Jeongjoksan, Taebaeksan, Odaesan and Jeoksangsan. Other highlights include royal portraits of Kings Yeongjo and Cheoljong, the national treasure Donggwoldo, and Joseon-era white porcelain.
The exhibition runs through August 30 and admission is free. Guided exhibition tours are offered daily at 2 p.m., with curator-led programs held Fridays at 3 p.m.
