Daum Kakao Corp., the operator of South Korea’s most-used mobile messenger KakaoTalk, said today it has no plans to tap into the mobile casino market, denying an earlier rumor surrounding its game business.
“Daum Kakao is not considering adopting casino content in the gaming platform,” the company said.
Rumor had it that Daum Kakao may launch gambling-related content on its entertainment platform linked to KakaoTalk, which boasts around 38 million users in the country of 50 million.
“While it is true that we are tapping into so-called web board games, they only include games like baduk and Go-stop,” a Daum Kakao official said.
Go-stop refers to a traditional Korean card game.
