Korea Destinations: Bridge Over the River Kwai Media Facade in Changwon

The media façade lights built on the Bridge over the River Kwai in Gusan-myeon will be turned on every night beginning from the 6th.

The media facade is a technique that expresses images by shining LED lights on the outer wall of the structure.

Last year, Changwon City was selected as a local transfer project for balanced development special accounting, and the installation was completed at the beginning of this year with a project cost of 900 million won.

The city decided to turn on the lights four times every night, reflecting reviews from homecoming visitors and tourists during the Lunar New Year holidays.

In the winter season (November-February), from 6, 7, 8, and 9 p.m. every night, for 40 minutes, media façade videos of 6 themes and landscape lighting of 4 themes are displayed alternately.

During the summer season (March-October), it operates for 40 minutes from 7, 8, 9, and 10 o’clock every night according to the late sunset time.

At this time, if you stand on the white Ido Land Bridge and look at the Bridge over the River Kwai), you can enjoy the magnificent and dreamlike media façade show.

Works that symbolize the value and future of Changwon, such as ‘Dynamic Changwon’ and ‘City of One with Nature’, as well as various contents such as the sea, sunset, flowers, birds, and butterflies, were expressed with colorful lighting and delicate sound.

The lighting of the Milky Way embroidering the bridge over the River Kwai against the background of the calm waves of the Archipelago Sea, as well as the media façade show harmonizing with the dazzling night view of the land-connecting bridge, is expected to provide tourists visiting Jeodo with a different level of emotion and memories.
