Fall is just around the corner in South Korea which means the autumn festival season is about to begin once again.

While October sees the majority of the bigger festivals around the nation, September still offers some great events as well to get out and enjoy.

Here’s five you may want to check out around the peninsula this month.

Pohang Steel Art Festival

Date: September 7 – 28

City: Pohang

Location: Yeongildae Beach, Songdo Beach

The country’s only steel festival, it combines art and cultural activities around the city’s success around the steel industry.

Daegu International Jazz Festival

Date: September 16 – 21

City: Daegu

Location: Suseong Artpia, Suseong Reservoir, Dongseong-ro outdoor stage

Various locations around the city play host to some great jazz featuring Korean and international talent.

Jeonju Cultural Heritage Night Tour

Date: September 21 – 22

City: Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do

Location: Jeonju Hanok Village

Held twice each year, take a walk through the city’s historical sites and a look at the region’s past.

Andong Mask Festival

Dates: September 27 – October 6

City: Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do

Location: Downtown Andong area, Maskdance Park, Hahoe Village, Culture Street

Considered the capital of traditional culture in Korea, the Andong Mask Festival showcases the country’s traditional culture like nowhere else.

Goyang Autumn Flower Festival

Dates: September 28 – October 13

City: Goyang, Gyeonggi-do

Location: Goyang Ilsan Lake Park

Outdoor and indoor activities welcome the blooming of fall flowers at this annual festival in Gyeonggi-do.
