Koreans Account for 90% of Ship Travelers to and from Japan

A new survey showed that while the number of Korean tourists travelling to Japan by ship has been drastically increasing every year, the number of Japanese tourists travelling to Korea has been decreasing every year.

According to the Busan Port Authority, about 1.4 million tourists boarded Korean and Japanese passenger ships at the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal last year, which is an increase of 17.2 percent, compared to 2016.

The percentage of passengers who were Korean tourists was about 81 percent in 2014 and had increased up to around 90 percent as of the end of last November.

On the other hand, the percentage of passengers who were Japanese tourists was 18.9 percent in 2014 and had dropped to 9.8 percent as of last year.
