KTX Rail Service Between Seoul and Gangneung to Begin December 22

A high-speed KTX rail service between Seoul and Gangneung in Gangwon Province will begin operating late next month.

Advance bookings can be made from Thursday for trains scheduled to begin service on December 22.

The service is intended to accommodate travel to the venues of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

It will operate 18 times a day on weekdays – with 10 departures from Seoul Station and 8 from Chungryangri Station – and 26 times on weekends.

A one-way ticket to Gangneung will cost 27,600 won from Seoul Station and 26,000 won from Chungryangri.

The service will reduce travel time from Seoul to Gangneung from 6.5 hours by regular train to one and a half hours.
