The music fountain that has been under construction since January at Haeundae’s Gunam-ro Culture Plaza is set to open this Saturday night.
The new fountain, which is 42 meters in length and 8 meters in width, is built near the entrance of the plaza towards the beach at the pedestrian culture square and will have a water fountain show in the day and light show at night.
In addition, a ‘Media Facade Show’, which displays a colorful fountain show in accordance with the music flowing from the speakers installed in various places along the plaza which will light up the sidewalk, will also exhibited throughout the year.
The new addition is seen as a much needed addition to the plaza which opened last August to disappointing reviews.
Costing 3.8 billion won, the road between Haeundae Beach and the old Haeundae Station was transformed into a two lane road to make way for a 30-meter-wide pedestrian-orientated cultural plaza on the 490-meter road.
However, the problem that residents complained about was there were almost no aesthetics to the street.
There were almost no places for shade, turning the walkway into a ‘cement sauna’ during the hot summer days with only four pergolas and street lamps on the street, along with scattered pots with plants.
The opening of the fountain is set for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. this Saturday evening.
