Restaurants Big Winners in Busan’s Tourism Numbers Rise


A recent survey has revealed that restaurant businesses in Busan have had the most economic impact in the local tourism industry.

According to an analysis by the Busan branch of the Bank of Korea, the number of Koreans who have visited Busan city last year was around 24 million, which is an increase of 3.6% and their food expenses were 23.9% out of the total traveling expenses resembling the current trend of the so-called meokbang, or dining tour.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Busan last year was around 2.26 million, down by 15.9% and the analysis added that they have spent 30.5% of total expenses at department stores and duty-free shops.
