The Democratic Party candidate running for the head of Sasang district who has been arrested for physically assaulting a female staff working for the campaign has been stripped of his candidacy.
The Busan branch of the Democratic Party said today that they apologize for the irresponsible incident that have shocked the citizens and that the party feels responsible for the things that have happened.
Busanβs DP said that it has called the ethics committee to strip Kang Seong-kwon of his duties and rights as the DPβs candidate for the head of Sasangβs district office, and that they have opened up candidate nominations for the local elections.
They further said that the physical assault victim will be treated as per the victimβs request including a psychotherapy, and that they will do their utmost to protect the victim and of her rights.
According to local media reports, Kang is accused of physical assault, which includes slapping a female campaign associate at around 11:55 pm Monday night in front of an apartment complex in Sasang district.
