Starting from the second half of next year, the speed limit will be lowered from 60 to 50km/hr on most roads in Busan City except for motorways.
Other roads will also have a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour.
The changes are part of the first policy in the nation to reduce city speed limits to below 50 kilometers per hour.
Busan city said it will lower the speed limit of major arterial roads in the city center to 50 km per hour in order to create a pedestrian-centered transportation system.
The city will review the traffic safety facilities with the Busan Police Agency in January before expanding the areas with reduced speed limits.
