Sweet Potato is the New “In” Flavor in Korea

Sweet potatoes have become the newest trend in Korea for snacks and drinks, emerging as the latest trendy food for retailers.

Consumers are eating up the latest offerings of sweet potato snacks, including Margaret cookies, tarts and especially in lattes.

The trend is especially popular in winter because sweet potatoes are popular for their unique sweet taste and also high nutritional value, and have long been considered a roadside snack when cooked over fire.

Korean’s penchant for sweet snacks has remained the same for years, as honey and banana were the last two trendy tastes over the last few years.
