Two of Taejongdae’s biggest tourist attractions have been forced to suspend operations during the busy summer season, disrupting visits to one of Busan’s most popular coastal destinations.
The Danubi Train, the park’s main transportation service, has been out of operation since July 3 following an accident in which two passengers were injured after a train carriage struck roadside obstacles.
It was the second similar incident in three months, following another accident in April that injured four passengers.
According to the Busan Tourism Organization, investigators believe the latest accident was caused by the failure of a tie rod ball, a component that helps guide the wheels of the passenger carriage. Service will remain suspended until investigations by police and the National Forensic Service are completed.
The Danubi Train carried approximately 540,000 passengers in 2025, with more than 256,000 riders recorded by the end of June this year. S
huttle buses have been introduced to replace the train, but officials say they are struggling to meet visitor demand.
At the same time, the Taejongdae Ocean Flying Theme Park has also been closed since June 6 after its operator failed to pay facility usage fees.
Yeongdo District is in the process of canceling the company’s operating permit and plans to seek a new operator through a public bidding process.
The theme park’s zipline and café had become particularly popular with international visitors, attracting more than 180,000 café visitors and over 20,000 zipline riders last year.
Although a new operator is expected to be selected as early as next month, additional maintenance and preparations will be required before the attraction can reopen.
