Ulsan will operate its fall birdwatching bus program from September 2 through October 31, combining wildlife viewing with visits to geological, historical and cultural sites around the city.
The 2026 Fall Ulsan Birdwatching Bus will run twice daily from Wednesday through Sunday, departing at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from the first auxiliary parking lot at Taehwagang National Garden.
Each tour lasts approximately three hours and is accompanied by two nature guides.
Different routes will be offered depending on the day of the week. Destinations include the Taehwa River, Dongcheon River, Seonam Lake Park, Yugok-dong Dinosaur Footprint Park, Yaksa-dong Embankment Ruins Exhibition Hall and the birthplace of independence activist Park Sang-jin.
Thursday tours will combine birdwatching with Ulsan’s geological and ancient history, including visits to the approximately 100-million-year-old dinosaur footprint site and the remains of an embankment constructed during the Silla period.
Saturday’s route focuses on bird habitats along the lower Taehwa River, including Samho Migratory Bird Park, while Sunday’s program combines birdwatching in Buk-gu with a visit to Park Sang-jin’s birthplace.
Wednesday and Friday routes explore bird habitats along the middle Taehwa River and around local lakes and reservoirs.
Participation is free, with each tour limited to 12 people. Participants must arrange their own personal accident insurance.
Reservations can be made through the Taehwa River Ecotourism Association website. Routes may change depending on weather and local conditions.
The Ulsan Birdwatching Bus operated 250 tours and attracted 1,512 participants between January and the end of July this year.
