The number of international visitors paying their respects at the Busan United Nations Memorial Cemetery has also increased significantly.
More than 314,000 people visited the cemetery during the first half of this year, from January through June.
Of those, about 39,000 were international visitors, accounting for 12% of all visitors.
Compared with the same period last year, the total number of visitors increased by 30 percent, while the number of international visitors surged by 47 percent.
The Cemetery Management Office said the sharp increase reflects the recent surge in international tourism to Busan.
In particular, the growing number of cruise ship arrivals has led more tour groups to include the cemetery as part of their itineraries.
