Underground Highway From Haeundae to Gimhae Airport in the Works

The construction of a 22.8 kilometer underground highway from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae will be promoted to coincide with the opening of Gimhae New Airport in 2026.

Once the six lane underground highway is opened, travel time from the airport to Haeundae should be reduced from the current 1 hour and 20 minutes to about 30 minutes.

In addition, eight ramps, including a Sasang, Hakjang and Jinyang ramp, will be included in the underground highway.

Once this underground highway is built, it is expected to play a key role in improving the traffic flow of major roads in Busan by as much as 30 percent by absorbing the traffic volume of neighboring roads suffering from chronic traffic jams, such as Hwangnyeong Tunnel and Gwangan Bridge.
