While in Korea, many people don’t even think twice about leaving their cellphones or laptops unattended at coffee shops or restaurants.
That may not be such a good idea after all.
Police have recently arrested 23 people around the country stealing tens of millions of won in unmanned cell phones, laptops, and handbags.
Busan Dongnae police recently arrested a 29-year-old male on suspicion of taking smartphones and wallets at pubs and restaurants they found were lacking in surveillance cameras.
22 others were caught in Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Seoul restaurants using the same technique last month.
Police sequentially arrested them through smartphone identification numbers which were traced using their serial numbers.
