The Busan International Fireworks Festival returns for its 15th edition with plenty to do and see beginning in the afternoon adding to the festive mood.
According to the city, tens of thousands of fireworks and state-of-the-art lasers light up the sky in harmony with the theme song of the festival against a backdrop of the sea and the 2-level suspension bridge, Gwangandaegyo Bridge. The festival attracts roughly 1 million Korean and overseas spectators.
The afternoon begins with busking performances along the beach road, followed by a talk show and music.
The event gets underway after a brief opening ceremony with a 15-minute fireworks performance by Parente Fireworks from Italy.
The main show kicks off at 8:25 for 35 minutes followed by a five-minute curtain call fireworks show.
Fireworks are shot from barges on the sea near Igidae, Gwangalli Beach and Dongbaekseom Island to create a three-dimensional and dynamic fireworks show that people in multiple locations can view. New displays of fireworks will be produced this year.
