The city of Busan announced plans to transform the city into a large-scale tourism and cultural festival zone ahead of the upcoming “BTS World Tour Arirang IN Busan” concerts scheduled for June 12 and 13.
According to the city, the initiative will extend beyond the concerts themselves, with tourism, cultural, food, and interactive programs taking place across Busan throughout June as part of a broader “citywide festival” project.
The goal is to encourage visitors to experience Busan as more than a concert destination by connecting K-pop content with the city’s tourism infrastructure and local attractions.
The city’s strategy is organized around four themes: welcome, experience, food, and lasting impressions.
At Gimhae International Airport and Busan Station, welcome programs and tourism support services will be expanded for visitors arriving during the concert period.
Busan Station’s Eurasia Platform will operate a temporary welcome center offering tourism information, luggage storage, and K-pop-related activities from June 5 to 21.
Large outdoor screens and media displays across key city locations, including Haeundae Square and Busan Station, will feature welcome messages and themed visual content, while landmarks such as Gwangan Bridge, Nurimaru APEC House, and Busan Tower will be illuminated with special lighting displays.
Interactive tourism programs will also take place throughout the city.
On June 12 and 13, Gwangalli Beach will host large-scale drone light shows featuring 1,000 drones combined with Gwangan Bridge lighting effects. Song Sang-hyeon Square will meanwhile host “The Red Moment Busan,” a themed event space featuring concerts, photo zones, and fan experience booths inspired by BTS’s “Arirang” album concept.
The city will also operate special BTS-themed city tour buses between June 5 and 21, offering daytime and nighttime routes across Busan.
Additional tourism routes will focus on different themes including local culture, romantic downtown areas, healing destinations around Geumjeong, and arts-focused experiences in Haeundae.
To connect tourism activity with local businesses, Busan plans to expand food and night tourism programs throughout the month.
At Busan Port Pier 1, the “Port Village Busan 2026” event will feature more than 50 local food and beverage teams alongside lifestyle markets and experience zones from June 4 to 21.
The city will also launch restaurant promotions in collaboration with well-known local dining spots and operate a night market featuring traditional Korean alcohol and themed food programs at Hwamyeong Ecological Park from June 10 to 14.
Busan officials said the city also plans to distribute welcome kits to selected visitors at tourism centers and public accommodations. The kits will include Busan tourism souvenirs, discount coupons, and tourism vouchers connected to the Visit Busan Pass program.
