Flights at Gimhae Airport were disrupted for about an hour after a suspected drone was spotted after a report was received around 8 p.m. on the 19th about an unidentified flying object believed to be a drone.
The Air Force’s 5th Air Mobility Wing, which controls the airport’s airspace, temporarily halted takeoffs and landings from 9:14 p.m. to 10 p.m.
As a result, planes bound for Gimhae circled near Geoje Island before landing after 10 p.m. Korean Air flight KE2134 was diverted to Cheongju Airport.
Gimhae Airport is a high-security national facility, and drone flights are banned within a 9.3 kilometer radius.
