Busan Teachers Push for Better School Security Following Rise in Intrusions

Concerns are growing over frequent incidents of unauthorized people entering schools in Busan, with calls for stronger security measures.

According to the Busan Teachers’ Union, around 80 school intrusion cases have been reported over the past five years, averaging about 16 cases a year

. Earlier this month, a parent illegally entered an elementary school after class hours and assaulted a student.

The union said many schools still rely on teachers to manage visitor access, despite repeated calls for better security systems.

It urged authorities to install stronger entry control systems and prevent teachers from being held responsible for safety tasks beyond their duties.
