The International School of Busan (ISB) is proud to announce the upcoming ISB Student-Led Eco Symposium, taking place on Monday, January 26, a landmark event celebrating student leadership and collective action toward a more sustainable future.
This student-driven initiative brings together learners, educators, and community members, including student leaders from Busan International High School and Gyeongnam International Foreign School (GIFS), to exchange ideas, showcase innovative projects, and collaborate under the guiding theme: “Empowering Youth Leaders, Collaborating for a Sustainable Future.”
The symposium program highlights the creative, academic, and analytical strengths of ISB students.
Attendees can expect student-led workshops, research presentations, performances, and creative exhibitions, each addressing environmental challenges through critical inquiry, artistic expression, scientific exploration, and community engagement.

A key highlight of the day will be the student keynote address, “Guardians of the Green: Rewriting the Future,” designed to inspire participants to imagine bold new possibilities for environmental stewardship and to recognize the vital role young people play in shaping a sustainable world.
In addition, ISB is honored to feature a special Keynote with Professor John Siddorn, a leading figure in global marine science.
Professor Siddorn is a prominent oceanographer and the Chief Executive of the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in the United Kingdom.
Widely recognized for his work in ocean modeling, digital innovation in marine science, and leadership in international ocean policy, Professor Siddorn was interviewed today for an exclusive presentation that will be shared with participants at the ISB Eco Symposium. His contribution connects students directly with real-world scientific leadership and global environmental action.
“As an accredited Green Flag Eco School, and in alignment with our guiding statements, the Eco Symposium reflects the commitment and leadership of our students as they work toward positive environmental change. Their passion and creativity demonstrate the power of young people to inspire our community and shape a more sustainable future, and we are proud of their leadership and environmental stewardship,” Head of School Simon McCloskey said.
ISB looks forward to welcoming attendees on January 26, 2026, for a meaningful celebration of sustainability and the transformative impact of student-driven action.
